Congratulations to the Royal Highland Show Supreme Young Handler
There can be no doubting of the superior standard and ability of the young handlers coming through the ranks. The quality and showmanship saw six young star performers compete for the Dalchirla Trophy, which was first presented in 2019.
Come and follow the Hairy Highland Coo Trail this summer
From the 28 June to 6 September, a fold of 30 Highland Coo’s will take over Perthshire and Kinross, each individually designed and painted by talented artists. The Coo trail will contribute to the social, cultural and economic growth of Perth and Kinross by attracting visitors to this beautiful area.
Daphne Allan
We are sorry to inform you of the passing of Miss Daphne Allan of Summerberry fold. Daphne passed away last spring and was a keen Life Member of the Highland Cattle Society.
Keith Howman
We are sorry to inform you of the passing of Keith Howman of Borland Fold, aged 88 years. Keith was a Life Member and a keen supporter of the Highland Cattle Society who will be sadly missed.
Robert Phillip

Alexander Garrick
Peacefully at Dr Grays Hospital, Elgin on Sunday, 12 November 2023, Alexander (Alex) Garrick died, aged 78 years. Loving husband of Rosie (nee Cockburn), dearly loved dad of Nina and Mark, dear father-in-law of Alistair and Jackie, proud and devoted granda of Blair and Miriam.

Highland cross sale
United Auctions held their annual sale of breeding cattle on Tuesday 24 October. One of the highlights of this annual event was the high demand for quality cross Highland heifers.

Sadly, on Saturday 6 May 2023 (Neilston Show day), the Woodneuk family lost another member when Margaret Thomson peacefully passed away at home with her family by her side.

On Monday afternoon at the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice in Glasgow, our friend and Chairman of the West of Scotland Highland Cattle Club, Roddy McDougall sadly passed away.

Bill Fiddler
It is with great sadness that we have learned of the passing of Bill Fiddler, who sadly died on 28 December at home. Bill and his wife Marie ran the Loch Maree fold of Highland Cattle in Chorley, Lancashire.

There was a strong demand for well-bred Cross Highland heifer calves at United Auctions annual breeding sale on 25 October, with buyers from as far afield as Ireland and Wales vying for the best lots.

By simply standing there, they won the hearts of just about every passer-by. Viewers were transfixed for ages admiring a pair of Highland Cattle. They seem to hark back to some ancient past and radiate the feeling that they are the real deal when it comes to cattle.
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
The Highland Cattle Society are deeply saddened by the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty was Patron of our Society for 70 years, her dedication to farming and rural life will never be forgotten. Our deepest sympathy goes to her family at this sad time.
