National Fold Competition 2024
The results are in for this year’s National Fold Competition. Congratulations to everyone who took part and especially our national and regional winners.
Oban Autumn Sale 2024
No records were broken but Highland cattle breeders went home very happy from the annual Autumn Show and Sale, held at Oban on Sunday and Monday.
Regional Shows 2024
Throughout the year, Highland Cattle have classes at a variety of county shows. Here are the results for the events that we have been advised of. Well done to all those who took part and, in particular, to the winners.
Royal Welsh Show 2024
What a fabulous week was had by the Highlanders this year. The overall champion, a black 3 year-old, Lady White 144th of Balmoral, pulled out in the last four in the Interbreed Championship and we did extremely well in other Interbreed classes too.
Great Yorkshire Show 2024
Torrential rain welcomed visitors to this year’s opening day of the show, and a huge audience watched judge, Matt Auld tap out his Breed Champion, Lady White 144th of Balmoral owned by Coul Estates, Newtonmore and bred by our late Queen Elizabeth II.
Royal Highland Show 2024
The Overall Champion of the day was the Female Champion, Claggorm 62nd of Glengarnock. This daughter of Iain Ruadh of Glenkinglass and out of Claggorm 45th of Glengarnock was bred by A and H Kirkpatrick, bought by Highland Cattle Services in February at the Highland Cattle Show and Sale, and shown by Angus MacGillivray.
Stars of the Future Calf Show 2023
The 13th Stars of the Future Calf Show was held on Saturday 11 November, and it was a day for the females! Morag 20th of Leys was placed junior overall champion and Kirsty 9th of Gartocharn took reserve overall junior champion.
Oban Autumn Sale 2023
The extreme floods and multiple landslides in Argyllshire certainly didn't stop the country's Highland cattle breeders putting on a show of pure quality at the autumn show and sale held in Oban.

Burwarton Show 2023
There was an excellent turnout of nearly 60 cattle at Burwarton Show for our National Show. Judged by Matt Auld, who commented that the quality in some classes was good enough to rival those at the Royal Highland Show.
Royal Welsh Show 2023
Archie McArthur from Tarbert, Argyll has spent over 40 years working and showing Highland Cattle and chose Sineag Dubh of Seam for his overall champion at this year’s Royal Welsh Show.
Great Yorkshire Show 2023
Glorious sunshine welcomed visitors to this year’s opening day of the show, and a huge audience watched Judge Alastair Fitzsimon tap out his champion, Kathleen 14th of Earn.
Royal Highland Show 2023
The overall champion of the day was the female champion, Neoinean Ruadh 6th of Leys. This daughter of Sir Lawrence 2nd of Springfield (Leadburn), and out of Neoinean Ruadh 4th of Leys, was expertly shown by Willie MacLean and bred by Leys Castle Farm.

Stars of the Future Calf Show 2022
The 12th Stars of the Future Calf Show was held Saturday 12 November with Gilleasbaig of Balrownie of Balrownie Farms taking the Senior Male and Overall Senior Champion, before going on to take Reserve Senior Native Interbreed Champion.
Oban Autumn Sale 2022
Highland Cattle breeders enjoyed a good day at the 125th annual autumn show and sale held at Oban on Monday, when a three-year-old heifer from the Glengarnock fold topped at 20,000gns.
Turriff Show 2022
What a day for the MacNaughton family at the National Show at Turriff. Donald’s Bryar Rose of Rannoch took the Female and Overall Championship, whilst the Reserve Female and Reserve Overall went to Alice 22nd of Tordarroch from John Cooper’s Inverness-shire fold.
Royal Welsh Show 2022
This year we welcomed back the Royal Welsh Show, after a two-year gap. Once again Highlands were one of the most represented breeds in attendance and, as always, drew in the crowds and media.
Great Yorkshire Show 2022
The Hunter family of Hunters fold had plenty to celebrate at this year’s Great Yorkshire Show. The family’s home bred Alice of Hunters reigned Overall Champion, fresh from her Reserve Champion status at this year’s Royal Highland Show.
Royal Highland Show 2022
The star of the show was the 3-year-old Gusgurlach of Balmoral, who also reigned supreme at last year’s Royal Highland Showcase event returned and was tapped out by Donald MacNaughton as his overall champion.
